Are you unsure how to boil the perfect potatoes every time?

Don't worry, you're not the only one. It's one of the questions our guests ask us most often. How should the potatoes be boiled to become creamy and delicious with just the right amount of bite? Below you'll find Frank's guide to perfectly boiled potatoes.

First and foremost, it's important that the potatoes are roughly the same size. If the difference isn't too great, you can halve the largest ones. This way, all the potatoes will have the same cooking time.

Procedure

  1. Place the potatoes in cold water (perhaps with a little lovage) with plenty of salt. It should taste slightly of seawater. We use 30 grams of salt per litre of water. That's a good tablespoon per litre of water.

It's important that you add salt per litre of water, and not per kg of potatoes.

  2. The potatoes should boil for about 12 minutes. Don't let them aggressively boil. Just let them simmer gently, and then remove them from the heat.

  3. Let the potatoes rest in the hot water for a minimum of 15 minutes. This is the most important step.

  4. This method will result in a good and creamy potato.

If the potatoes have a thick skin, you should add more salt to the water.

This is how you boil potatoes perfectly.

If you boil the potatoes the right way, even children can eat them as snacks at home. Alternatively, they can be refrigerated overnight and used on a potato sandwich (kartoffelmad) the following day.

Enjoy your meal!
